Fédération Luxembourgeoise de Volleyball

Europe’s fourth Regional Development Centre officially established in Luxembourg.

by CEV

On Friday, October 4, the official signing ceremony for the establishment of a Regional Development Centre (RDC) recognized by FIVB and CEV took place at the CEV headquarters in Luxembourg City. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Romain Schneider, Luxembourg Sports Minister, Mr. André Hoffmann, President of Luxembourg’s National Olympic Committee (COSL, Comité Olympique et Sportif Luxembourgeois), Mr. Guy Erpelding, President of the Luxembourg Volleyball Federation, as well as by CEV President André Meyer. The RDC in the Grand Duchy follows those already announced in Kettering (England), Baku (Azerbaijan), and Milano (Italy).
This agreement turns into reality the projects prepared by the local authorities to establish in Luxembourg one of the five Regional Development Centres (RDC) that are set to turn into the major “hubs” for the development of Volleyball across Europe. This will enable the Grand Duchy to play host to a series of regional and international activities which are likely to contribute to an extensive promotion of Volleyball so as to introduce as many youngsters as possible to the sport and also to improve on the education and skills of the region’s Volleyball coaches, referees and officials. The centre will be hosting seminars, symposiums and other clinics as part of their activities.
A series of venues located across the country will contribute to the activities of this multi-centre for Volleyball excellence.
The management of this centre will be overseen by the Luxembourg Volleyball Federation. The RDC will be funded primarily by the Sports Ministry and by the National Olympic Committee (COSL) via the Olympic solidarity program, in addition to the contribution provided by FIVB and CEV.
